CHARLIE PHILLIPS is a New York City-based magician and producer of magic. He is currently performing all across the United States (including a recent show at Hollywood’s Magic Castle) and working as an associate producer on Asi Wind’s touring show Incredibly Human. This comes after he served as the Chief of Staff at the award-winning Off-Broadway show, David Blaine Presents: Asi Wind’s Inner Circle. Charlie also has experience behind the counter at the prestigious Tannen’s Magic Shop, the oldest magic shop in the United States.

Charlie had multiple magic “phases” as he was growing up. However, when a family friend showed him his first real magic trick the game completely changed. The distinct, powerful feeling of wonder that he felt at the end of that trick was unlike anything he had ever encountered.

The feeling that a well executed magic trick produces is a one-of-a-kind experience that Charlie was once on the receiving end of. Now, he understands that sensation and creates it for his audiences every time he performs.

Types of Performances

Successful events are ones that your guests will talk about long after they are over. Magic has been a traditional entertainment option for decades as it can elevate any event with an exciting and unique experience. No matter what type of performance you choose for your event, my magic will help your guests have fun and leave with a positive, long-lasting memory of your event in their mind.

Closeup Magic

A closeup magic performance is what happens when a full magic show is performed for a small group of people. Unlike traditional stage shows, closeup magic is performed right in front of the audience mere inches away. During a closeup performance, I typically join the audience around a table where all the magic takes place. This setup prompts plenty of audience interaction and byplay throughout the entire show. The closeup environment lends its way to a more intimate show where props can be borrowed and impossibilities can happen in the audiences’ own hands. Similarly to my parlor show, my closeup show is customizable in length. Sleight of hand performances are real and memorable. The evening will end, simply, with your mind blown.

Strolling Magic

This type of performance involves me making my way through small groups of people at your event and performing a short set for each group. This is most suitable for events like cocktail hours, receptions, or company parties, where there are clusters of people intermingling with each other. The magic that I perform while strolling happens mere inches from the audiences’ faces, so what they are seeing is undeniably impossible. Magic is a phenomenal way to liven up any group of people and the conversation that follows a performance is often filled with intrigue and amazement. Above all, what I strive to do while performing strolling magic is connect people with one another through magic. I aim to get everyone talking and introduce people who may not have met before. Strolling magic serves as a great ice breaker to bring people together while providing an unforgettable experience.

PARLOR Magic

Parlor magic lies in the middle ground between a closeup show and the traditional stage show. A parlor show retains the intimacy of a close up performance but for a larger crowd of 50-200 people. I make sure to present different styles of magic and mind reading which will keep the audience on the edge of their seats and in consistent amazement, never guessing what comes next, and always asking for more. The show is filled with interaction as I call on multiple audience members to assist with the magic. Just as with my closeup show, my parlor performance is customizable in length. There is laughter, wonder, and the show is bound to be a highlight of your event that stays in your guests’ minds for many years to come.
